The production of the Dutch bed manufacturer Auping is fully circular. Auping was the first European company to fully close the sustainable loop of textiles.
Auping serves as a ‘proof of concept’ for circular textiles. Their innovation has paved the way for other companies to produce textiles that are 100% circular.
Auping’s ‘closed loop’
Mattress covers are often made from composite textiles, making recycling impossible. Auping developed a mattress cover made from 100% polyester. Their covers can be shredded into fibers and made into granulate (rPET). In other words: the cover is brought back to its original raw materials. This allows Auping to make new textile products again, without using new materials so a fully sustainable loop.
The endless possibilities of circular textiles
Auping’s circular loop proves that monomaterial can be fully reused. There seems to be no end to the number of production loops with the same raw materials.
Zillion Cycles founder, Job Dröge, has been working with Auping for years. He was inspired by Auping’s sustainable innovation. Hence, Zillion Cycles has successfully closed the loop of post-industrial waste in collaboration with textile manufacturer Innofa.
Please note that this circular loop is not limited to mattress covers. Almost all textile products can be produced fully sustainably if made from 100% monomaterial. We have already done this for the care covers of Joy in Care.
Not only these care covers, but all products like corporate clothing and industrial cargo nets can be made fully sustainable.
